Bay area insulation removal

Selecting the most suitable type of insulation for your home can be difficult. However, the primary expectation is finding insulation that completely covers every corner of your frame. A good Bay Area attic insulation company can help you choose and solve your insulation problems. Insulation comes in four different types as enumerated below;

The 4 Different Types of  Insulation

  1. Spray foam insulation

It is basically a mixture of chemicals that are heated and sprayed out through a hose. The chemicals mix as they are sprayed out, creating a sticky substance that attaches itself to anything it is sprayed onto. The foam begins to expand, trapping gas in many tiny bubbles in mere seconds. The foam forms an even coat of insulation as it expands, creating an air tight seal. Bay Area insulation contractors are available to help you apply and choose between the two types of spray foam. The two types of spray foam insulation are;

  • Open-cell spray foam insulation – It is referred to as open cell because the cells do not close completely. The broken bubbles allow heat to pass through the insulation slowly. The broken bubbles also make the foam softer and let water pass through. This can be a positive or negative thing based on the way they are applied. Open-cell spray foam is the cheaper option and does a good job around wires, pipes and other obstacles. However, it is not the best option when it comes to insulating power.
  • Closed-cell spray foam insulation – In the closed-cell spray foam, the air bubbles are tightly closed, this makes them stronger than open-cell spray foam. They are the best option due to their insulating power.
  1. Blankets of insulation

Fibreglass and Rockwool are the most common types of insulation. They come in various widths and thicknesses, depending on the space between the framing. The cotton candy insulation traps air between the tiny fibers, making their R-value high. The air pockets slow down heat that passes through the insulation. Batts and rolls are mostly similar but with one difference; batts are cut prior to fit common holes in walls and ceilings while rolls are long insulations that are cut depending on the type of hole to be fixed.

  1. Blown in Insulation

They are sold in compressed blocks that are broken down by a machine known as the blower. The installer directs the flow of insulation as it comes out through the hose of the machine. The tiny pieces spread evenly to fill in the space between the walls or ceilings. This is the main advantage of the blown in insulation.

  1. Foam board insulation

They are commonly known as rigid insulation and come in sheets like plywood and drywall. There are three main types of foam boards;

  • Expanded Polystyrene
  • Extruded Polystyrene
  • Poly-isocyanurate
